About Us
Gennaro's Italian Ristorante opened in 1982 when Mr. Gennaro left his musical career to become a chef. Armed with a degree in hospitality, some old family recipes, and a wealth of experience working in Italian kitchens in his native Long Island, Gennaro pursued his dream and opened his own Italian restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina. Since then, there has always been a Gennaro in the kitchen.
In the Tradition of Little Italy
Michael Gennaro's grandparents hail from the Abruzzi region of Northern Italy, but the menu at Gennaro's is an eclectic, multi-regional blend of gutsy Italian classics, reminiscent of what you might find in Little Italy. Customer favorites include fettuccini Alfredo, linguini with clams, lasagna, veal, beef, and seafood. Ask about our ranged beef and local seafood specials. Like any good Italian restaurant, we also have a large selection of fine wines.
A Local Favorite
With more than 30 years in business, Gennaro's is a beloved institution in Charleston. The Post and Courier has given Gennaro's high rating for quality of food and presentation, service, ambiance, and elegance. Private dining rooms are available for functions and special events.
